.com Names Abused or Misused

These are names that have been registered by others to use for their own gain or to abuse in one way or another.

Some of these names are used for ppc (pay per click) advertising, some are used for adult websites, some are simply held in hopes of getting money for them. The names are not active links because in many cases, it's best if you DO NOT go to those sites. If you want to go to them, you will have to do so manually.

This is only a sample of names that are registered for the wrong reasons. If it wasn't for domains like these being abused or misused, I wouldn't be registering names either. If a celebrity name is being misused, they can take it to court, but the procedure can be long and costly and there have been many cases where the celebrity just let it be due to the cost and hassle. Names I register are given to the rightful owner at no cost and with no hassle if they want it. My only requirement is, if they want the registration transferred away from my services, I need to know for sure that they are who they say they are because people do pretend to be someone else and once a domain is transferred away from our registration services, we no longer have any control, so we need to be sure it really is the celebrity before we will let it be transferred away.

It's possible, and would be great, if the owners of some of these names had good intentions, like letting the proper owner have it if they want it. Hopefully some of them are registered for this purpose, but it's a fact that most celebrity names registered are done for the purpose of making money. They use the celebrity's popularity to make money, or hopefully make money, in one way or another.

These domains all redirect to searchportal. About 1/2 are registered to BWI Domain Manager. Many of them use private registration.

These domains are registered by Alberta Hot Rods. Many of them redirect to a website called celebrity 1000. Some go to paid advertising.

These domains are registered by David Durant. Most of them redirect to a website that sells magazines.

These domains are registered by Unofficial Fan Club. They all go to a simple page with an email link to join an unofficial fan club.

These domains all use private registration, and most of them use the same page of affiliate links with the same affiliate IDs. It's possible these are just celebrities who happen to be using the same company to register the domains and are all using the company's default parked page, but considering that some of these celebs have a website at an alternate domain, I highly doubt they own these domains.
